Themes of “MIKOTO” are based on Chinese traditional thought “ In-you-Gogyou”.
According to “ In-you-gogyou”, all the thing is distinguished between darkness and brightness(“In-you”)――for example woman and man, moon and sun, night and day, etc.
And “In-you” produce “Gogyou”――wood, fire, earth, gold and water : these five are elements which we need to live. By unifying these five elements, the nature harmonizes with the universe――people say since old times in China.

These thoughts came in Japan with Buddhism and Taoism, after, mixed with “Shinto”, “Onmyou-dou” was formed. “Onmyou-dou” is one of the fortune-telling which use a calendar, astronomy, etc.

Four Gods

In China, from ancient times, four bearings had gods severally.
God of the west was “Byakko” like a white tiger, god of the south was “Suzaku” like a peacock, god of the east was “Seiryu” like a blue dragon, god of the north was “Genbu” like a .

These four gods ware painted on an old tomb “KITORA” in Nara, 1300 years ago. And four gods influenced city planning.
